Visiting students

The class on Monday 31st October was swelled by a group of students visiting from the Fakenham club.

Phil, a student at Fakenham, has been working with us for some time but, like so many others at the moment, is having to belt tighten. The upshot is that, rather then come in his own transport every week he's coming once a fortnight with one or more fellow students from Fakenham in a car-sharing exercise.

Tonight we had 5 extra students visiting from Fakenham, including Robert, one of the intructors, outnumbering our local students.

We also had someone from UEA come to take photos and videos for use in publicising the activities their students (well, Abidal is a student and Phil's doing a PhD) get up to, Plus a potential new Aikido student who came along to watch a class and see what we're like.

With a total of 11 of us (including instructors) we had a chance to try out a larger tatami configuration, bringing it up to 6x9m - maybe next time we'll get up to 6x10m.

I think we may be able to handle a 7x10m tatami in the Owen Barnes Room without having to remove the chairs stacked along the wall although it would be a tight fit and probably wouldn't leave space to walk alongside the tatami - we'll have to try it sometime.
